A few Northwest Wisconsin libraries have started renovation projects thanks to funding through the state’s Flexible Facilities Grant Program.

Over the last few weeks, multiple libraries across Northwest Wisconsin have held groundbreaking ceremonies for renovation and expansion projects. Each of those projects received a portion of the needed funding through the Flexible Facilities Grant Program.

The latest groundbreaking ceremony was held in Cable for the new Forest Lodge Library along Highway M. Construction work began on June 30th and should wrap up by October of 2026. The project received $1.8 million in funding from the Flexible Facilities Grant Program.

Library projects in Fall Creek, Stanley, and Cadott also broke ground on renovation projects in June. The Fall Creek Public Library project will see the creation of a joint-use library and village center on W Lincoln Avenue. Officials set a goal of raising $8 million for the project, more than half of which came from state grant funding.

The renovation and expansion project at the D.R. Moon Memorial Library in Stanley received $4.1 million through the Flexible Facilities Grant Program. That project will see the renovation of the existing historic building and the addition of a community room, computer stations, and more.

The Village of Cadott is building an entirely new library off Highway 27 to replace the current facility on Main Street. The completed facility will be three times larger and see the addition of three community meeting rooms. The project received $3.7 million in funding through the Flexible Facilities Grant Program.

The City of New Richmond also recently received $221,400 of funding through the Idle Sites Redevelopment Grant Program for a community library project. On top of the new library, that project will see the addition of 78 housing units.
