
VERNON COUNTY, WIS (CIVIC MEDIA) – A motor vehicle crash resulted in an arrest last week.
Thursday afternoon (September 4) at approximately 4:15, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center received a report of a single-vehicle crash that occurred on State Highway 27, near County Road P West, rural Westby in the Town of Christiana. Marcia Marie Cooley, 44 of La Crescent, MN was operating a vehicle traveling south on State Highway 27.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the Cooley vehicle passed other vehicles on the right shoulder prior to the vehicle leaving the highway. Cooley did not report any initial injuries, and was evaluated at the scene, but not transported to the hospital.
During the investigation, Cooley showed signs of impairment and was subsequently taken into custody for Second Offense Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Cooley was booked into the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center Thursday night and appeared in Vernon County Circuit Court Friday morning.
A $300 cash bond was ordered. Cooley was held until she posted the bail and was turned over to the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office to face potential charges.
Marcia Cooley is due back in Vernon County Circuit Court on October 7.
